Swedish Gambling Authority looks for new verification partner
Regulator issues request to tender for new licensing information system

The Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) has asked companies to submit tenders for the right to provide verification services for new licensees.
As part of its regulatory duties, Spelinspektionen is required to verify information on licence applicants including their corporate structure, board members, ownership details and the current physical address of the company.
Prospective verification partners need to be able to deal with up to 50 licence applications during any period according to the Spelinspektionen tender request.
Almost 20 operators applied for Swedish licences following the opening of a licensing window by the regulator in August, since then over 58 more applications have been verified and licences issued to operators.
Service providers must also be able to conduct deeper examinations of licence applicants and existing licence holders through verification of identity for owners and senior executives.
Under the terms of the tender, the agreement will last for a two-year period, with an option to extend this agreement for a period of one year.
However, Spelinspektionen has said that it will cancel the bidding process if bids received exceed its budget or if changes occur to its regulatory duties which prevent it from completing the review process.
The deadline for the submission of tenders occurs on 11 June, with the verification services contract set to go live on 1 July.
