Sweden set to accept B2B licence applications from 1 March 2023
The announcement comes despite bill to implement B2B licences not yet passed into law

The Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) has confirmed that a licensing window for B2B supplier licences to operate in Sweden will officially open from 1 March 2023.
The SGA’s announcement comes despite no legislation being effective in this area, as a bill aiming to enshrine requirements for B2B licensing into law has not yet passed through the Swedish Riksdag.
The Swedish government proposed the motion to introduce this bill in January, with the aim of increasing channelisation to licensed operators in the country’s regulated gambling market. However, almost nine months on, the bill is yet to go to a vote in parliament.
Since then, Sweden has had a general election which left the original government that put the bill forward without a majority, but the SGA is still working on getting the bill passed into law as originally planned.
Licences for B2B Suppliers will come into force on 1 July, however the SGA is encouraging suppliers to submit their applications from this earlier date.
Sweden’s government first published the licensing guidelines for B2B Supplier licences in March, with licence application fees of SEK120,000 (£9825.78) payable. The SGA has said it expects there to be around 70 licences issued at the launch of the licensed B2B market in July.
