Svenska Spel plans major platform overhaul ahead of re-regulation
Monopoly operator will split its entire back-end system including web apps, customer management and analytics

Svenska Spel has announced it will restructure its entire backend platform to meet upcoming Swedish regulations early next year.
Interim CEO Marie Loob said the IT systems for the new competitive part of the business must be separated to meet the regulator’s stringent guidelines.
Svenska Spel CIO Jörgen Olofsson said the restructuring would the company’s largest IT project ever.
Loob said: “It’s about separating web apps, customer management systems, analytics systems, ombud terminals, and more.
“In principle, all our system components need to be rebuilt or changed – and in an extremely short period of time.”
The operator said customers would not be impacted and there would be no downtime on the site.
“It’s a duplication that requires IT architects, system developers, etc. of absolute world class and I’m so proud to say that we have them at Svenska Spel,” Loob said.
