Superbet to scale back Gibraltar operations
Operator remains committed to Gibraltar despite scaling down during two-month consultation period

Superbet is to downsize its Gibraltar operations as the operator reconsiders its strategic focus, EGR has learned.
The firm has launched a two-month consultation period that will see multiple redundancies made, just one year after Superbet committed to doubling its headcount on the Rock.
The operator bolstered its management board in July 2017 and even built a new trading team in September, but EGR Intel understands the operator’s ambitious plans are now being reined back.
A Superbet source told EGR: “The things we expected to be doing haven’t materialised.
“We will remain in Gibraltar, but we are looking at scaling down in size and scaling down the operation.
“It is regrettable, but we want to make sure we run this process in the right way.”
Superbet’s former group director of ecommerce, Jamie Hart, left the operator last month to join racing consortium Alizeti Capital in a bid to revitalise the Tote.
Superbet is a major high street player in Romania, with approximately 600 retail stores, but the operator has also amassed a large chunk of the country’s regulated online market.
