Superbet chief people officer departs as ex-Paddy Power HR boss steps in
Shaun Conning calls time on spell with Central and Eastern European operator, with Sandra Thorpe set to replace him

Superbet’s chief people officer, Shaun Conning, has departed the Romania-based operator after almost two years.
Conning joined the firm in November 2022, as revealed exclusively by EGR at the time, after spending more than five years with sports broadcaster DAZN.
He has been replaced by former Paddy Power chief HR officer Sandra Thorpe.
Thorpe joins after almost three years with AVIV Group, a subsidiary of German media and tech giant Axel Springer, where she served as chief people officer between June 2021 and February of this year.

The former Microsoft HR head oversaw human resources for Paddy Power between November 2011 and February 2016.
Reflecting on his time with Superbet, Conning praised the company’s founder, Sacha Dragic, and former CEO Johnny Hartnett for their support.
He said: “After a wonderfully enjoyable and exciting two years at Superbet, yesterday (31 July) was my last day in an executive role.
“A huge shout out to Sacha Dragic, who continues to build an incredible business with unwavering ambition, and Johnny Hartnett, who hired me back in 2022, and I loved working with.
“A big thanks to all those who made the Superbet experience so memorable, there are far too many to give a shoutout to, but you all know who you are.
“I am looking forward to working with you and staying a friend of Superbet in the future.”
Conning added that following a break over the summer, he would be looking to return to the sports, media and betting industries across board, leadership and talent advisory positions.
In July, Superbet trading director Terry Pattinson announced his departure from the company after four years.
