Online gambling veteran Alex Gersh joins London-based supplier following 12-month stint at online car retailer Cazoo

Sportradar has appointed former Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) exec Alex Gersh as the firm’s new chief financial officer (CFO).
Gersh joins Sportradar from UK-based online car retailer Cazoo, where he served as CFO from May 2019 to May 2020. He joined Betfair as CFO in 2012, and retained the position following the PPB merger in 2016.
The former BT and Motorola exec will report to CEO Carsten Koerl. He will be tasked with financial management and planning for the group, as well as reviewing and implementing investment decisions and new business opportunities.
Speaking on Gersh’s arrival, Koerl said his new finance chief was “second-to-none” and was looking forward to what the future holds for the company.
Koerl continued: “We are delighted Alex has joined us as our new CFO. He possesses a profound understanding of the sports, betting, mobile and data sectors, which will be vital as we enter the next stage of global growth for the business.”
Gersh added that he was “thrilled” to be joining Sportradar.
Gersh said: “Sportradar is a business I have long admired and I’m thrilled to be joining at such an interesting time for the global sports and betting industries.
“Carsten and the management team have some very exciting plans over the coming years, and I’m looking forward to helping the company achieve its goals,” he added.
