Sportradar gains further US access with Synergy Sports acquisition
Data giant puts pen to paper on deal to broaden professional and college sports content

Sportradar has completed the acquisition of data and video analytics firm Synergy Sports as the data giant looks to bolster its product portfolio.
Synergy Sports was created in 2020 following the merger of Atrium Sports, Synergy Sports Technology and Keemotion into one company. It provides AI-led video and data solutions across US professional and college sports.
Synergy Sports holds relationships with the NBA and MLB, as well as NCAA Division I men’s and women’s basketball, along with men’s baseball.
The acquisition is expected to close in Q2 2021 subject to standard customary conditions and regulatory conditions. The price was undisclosed.
Carsten Koerl, Sportradar CEO, said: “Adding Synergy Sports to the Sportradar family will expand our product offering into US college sports data and video analytics and further cements our relationships with the major sports organisations in the US and around the world.
“We have huge respect for the talented, energetic and passionate management team that Nick Maywald and Mark Silver have built at Synergy Sports.
“Like Sportradar, their focus is always sport and the customer, and we are looking forward to working with them to expand the business and unlock exciting new commercial opportunities for our sports partners,” he added.
Nick Maywald, Synergy Sports executive chair, commented: “Sportradar is the perfect partner to accelerate the evolution of Synergy Sports in the US and around the world.
“Data is in the DNA of both companies and this partnership will deepen our relationships with both professional and college sports in the US and internationally.”
