Swedish GGR hits SEK6.5bn in Q1 2022
Increase on Q1 2021 but country’s gross gaming revenue slides on Q4

Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA), has announced that Sweden’s Q1 2022 saw GGR of SEK6.5bn (£575.7m).
This represents a slight year-on-year increase of 4.8% from Q1 2021, which recorded SEK6.2bn.
It is, however, a decrease of 7.9% on Q4 2021, which saw a total GGR of SEK7.02bn.
In terms of verticals, online betting, both sports and casino, accounted for the majority, recording SEK4.17bn.
State lottery and slot machines represented just over 20% with SEK1.3bn.
Casino Cosmopol accounted for SEK103m.
The SGA also reflected on the number of gamblers who had self-excluded via Spelpaus.se. Just over 73,000 people registered during Q1, an increase of almost 6% on the comparative period in 2021.
Since the legalisation of online gambling in Sweden, 91 operators have been granted licences in the country up to March 2022.
