
Spanish Q3 gaming revenue up 14% YoY to €348m
Spain’s gambling regulator reports a 14.4% year-on-year increase in GGR following a 42.4% rise in new accounts being created in the three months to 30 September

Spain’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) has reported licensed operators posted GGR of €348.1m (£287.4m) for Q3 2024 in a strong quarter for the Iberian market.
The figure represents a 14.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase, and a 0.5% increase compared to Q2 2024.
Casino revenue was the biggest contributor to the total revenue share with €188m, up 17.3% from the third quarter in 2023.
Sports betting contributed €135.9m, up 19.8% YoY, poker accounted for €20.5m, down 23.5% YoY, while bingo generated €3.7m, up 0.7% YoY.
Despite the YoY leap in sports betting revenue, the vertical declined 6.6% compared to Q2.
Pre-match betting declined 24.3% YoY while in-play betting enjoyed an 8.7% boost over the quarter. A 22% YoY drop in horseracing betting was offset by a 20.9% increase for other betting markets.
When looking at casino revenue, slots revenue increased 25.8% compared to Q3 2023, blackjack reported a 49.4% boost, while roulette rose 4.7% YoY.
The DGOJ also recorded an average of 1,443,615 monthly active game accounts, up 33.3% YoY.
The average number of new accounts every month came to 153,181, representing a 42.4% yearly increase.
Marketing expenses for Q3 totalled €131.7m, up 40.9% YoY. Promotions were the biggest expense at €66.8m, advertising costs added €50.4m and sponsorships amounted to €1.3m.
There were 77 total licensed operators live during the quarter, 42 of them betting operators.
A further 51 operators were dedicated to casino, nine poker, four bingo and two contests operators.
Total player deposits for the quarter rose 23.9% YoY to €1.14bn, while withdrawals rose 30.3% to €802.2m.
