Smarkets launches new weekly politics betting podcast
Talk show takes betting exchange’s podcast portfolio to four as expert Matthew Shaddick and special guests set to feature

Smarkets has released a new politics betting-focused podcast as the London-based betting exchange continues to diversify its media output.
The Smarkets Politics Podcast will be hosted by VP of communications Dan Levy and feature insight from head of politics Matthew Shaddick and politics analyst Patrick Flynn.
The weekly series will feature special guests and touch on upcoming key events in the world of politics, including the new UK Prime Minister and the US midterm elections.
The new podcast will fit in alongside Smarkets’ existing politics-led content, which includes regular articles from Shaddick and Flynn on the Smarkets news portal, and data-led insight on the operator’s Twitter account.
The Smarkets Politics Podcast is the first podcast produced by the firm under its exchange brand, with its bookmaker-like SBK brand already lending its name to a trio of podcasts.
SBK has two horseracing podcasts in the shape of the SBK Betting Podcast and SBK Saturday Night Selections, both of which have been joined by a new NFL podcast involving American football expert Nat Coombs.
Shaddick said: “It’s brilliant to be expanding our political content offering with the new Smarkets Politics Podcast.
“One thing you can say about politics in the last few years is that there’s been plenty to talk about, so we’re excited to have a place to discuss the latest news from a betting-market point of view,” he added.
In July, Smarkets released an online advert which failed to be approved by Clearcast for TV broadcast as the body said it would “bring advertising into disrepute”.
