Sky Betting & Gaming details new diversity and inclusivity pledge
Flutter Entertainment-owned operator targets top-down culture of social responsibility and employee engagement with fresh guidelines

Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) has debuted a new business-wide diversity and inclusivity pledge as it looks to broaden its corporate social responsibility footprint.
The pledge comprises three main elements. The first is a leadership pledge, which forms SBG’s executive teams’ promise to create an inclusive business, and secondly a people pledge, which details what is expected of all employees in the business.
The final pledge details the mechanisms available to employees when they have concerns about potential incidents of discrimination.
As part of the leadership pledge, SBG has committed to the periodic review of a range of data including pay, promotions and hiring, as well as staff feedback through surveys.
In addition, the performance of SBG’s executive team in respect of diversity and inclusion will also be measured through independent evaluation and in terms of the wider Flutter Entertainment group.
SBG has also revealed the launch of its mentoring programme for 2021, which aims to provide career management and support to employees at all levels of the business.
The people pledge, which aims to showcase the corporate culture SBG is looking to develop, includes guidance on how staff should look to act when working across the firm’s many offices.
The final reporting pledge aims to provide guidance on how SBG staff can report concerns over a lack of diversity and inclusion in the business.
“We are one of the biggest digital and tech companies in the North, and one of the leading online betting and gaming companies in the UK,” Sky Betting & Gaming CEO Steve Birch wrote in a report detailing the pledges. “But it’s not the technology that drives our success; it’s our people.
“Our people are what set us apart from the competition — they are the one thing that no one else can have, or ever replicate. That’s why it’s vital that we have an environment where every single person, with their own unique personality, can flourish.
“As a newly established leadership team, it was our priority to make sure the pledge accurately reflected our continued commitment to inclusion,” Birch added.
SBG is set to open a new 136,000 sq ft headquarters in Leeds in May, a move which will significantly increase both its floor and meeting room space.
Responding to the demands of the coronavirus pandemic, SBG said it aims to move toward a hybrid working environment with a combination of remote and in-office work being offered.
As part of this model, employees will no longer have a fixed desk in the office, with six desks now being used for every 10 people working from the office.
