Sky Bet produces new horseracing documentary for ITV Hub
Brand ambassador Daryl Jacob reveals what being a professional jockey is like in short film ahead of Cheltenham Festival as operator develops content output

Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) has produced a documentary ahead of this year’s Cheltenham Festival to capture the highs and lows of life as a professional jockey.
The short film focuses on Sky Bet brand ambassador and National Hunt jockey Daryl Jacob, who personally recalls the racing, training, travelling, falls and injuries that come with the profession.
Jacob also remembers some of his best personal achievements, including what it’s like to ride a Grand National winning horse.
The documentary goes live on ITV Hub from 12 March and marks the first time the Leeds-based operator has produced content for a third party, rather than its own social media channels.
SBG head of content Kevin Brain said: “Daryl took two falls in the space of a week, breaking his hand and then his nose before last Christmas. This made us think that no-one so far has told the story of what it’s really like to be a jockey.
“It has to be one of, if not, the toughest sporting professions out there and Daryl is an incredible, captivating and very humble man.
“We are seeing that there is an increasing demand for brands to adapt to changing patterns of media consumption and audience behaviour and provide a value-exchange.
“The launch of this documentary is a great way for us to start 2021 and we hope it’s enjoyed by both racing fans and general sports enthusiasts,” he added.
