Sky Bet creates safer gambling chief role for “renewed focus”
Former head of trading commercial and international, Ben Wright, takes up the new role at SBG’s Leeds HQ

Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) has created a new role dubbed ‘head of safer gambling’, in a bid to bring a “renewed focus and cohesion” to the work being done on safer gambling across the business.
Former SBG head of trading commercial and international, Ben Wright, has been promoted to the role, EGR Intel has learned.
According to a spokesperson, Wright will lead a new “cross-functional, multi-discipline team” drawn from within the company, which will be tasked with building the products, tools and processes to create the “safest online gambling experience possible”.

Wright has worked at SBG’s Leeds headquarters for 11 years. He first joined as a trader and climbed the ranks to become a manager in the sports international commercial teams.
Adam Brickell, SBG’s director of external affairs, said: “I’m delighted that Ben has been appointed to this important new role.
“Ben’s experience in the industry, and within Sky Betting & Gaming in particular, means he is very well placed to take on this challenge,” Bricknell added.
SBG has adopted a strict stance on responsible gambling, which included an ad campaign promoting its portfolio of RG tools.
The firm also won Socially Responsible Operator at the EGR 2018 Operator Awards in October last year and helped develop a Young Gambler Education Trust (YGAM) mobile app to help users control their technology use.
