Scientific Games recruits Dell Technologies veteran as new CFO
Michael Eklund to take up role in June with current finance chief Michael Quartieri to stay on as consultant for six months

Scientific Games has unveiled Michael Eklund as the Las Vegas-based supplier’s new chief financial officer (CFO).
Eklund, who joins from IRI, a data and analytics solutions provider for consumer, retail and media companies, will assume his new role on 1 June.
Sci Games’ current financial chief, Michael Quartieri, will remain full time until 30 June before moving into a consulting role with the company until 31 December.
Quartieri had intended to depart earlier this year following a four-year stint with the games provider, but he agreed to stay on and help steer the Nasdaq-listed business through the choppy waters of the coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to his role at IRI, Eklund spent more than 20 years at Dell Technologies in both financial and operational positions, including CFO of Dell’s $40bn-plus Client Services Business Unit.
He also spearheaded the value creation and integration function for the $67bn Dell-EMC combination.

Sci Games CEO Barry Cottle said: “We are very fortunate to have Mike Eklund join us. He has a wealth of experience in financial and operational leadership and a passion for aligning all aspects of a company’s finance and operations with its core business model that positions him well to build on Mike Quartieri’s legacy.”
On the outgoing CFO, Cottle added: “Mike Quartieri has done an outstanding job over the last four years building a world class financial team, revitalising our financial management and refinancing our debt.
“The board of directors and I are very grateful for Mike’s constant dedication to the success of the company and its people. Mike now wants to move to a new industry with new challenges after many years in the gaming business.”
Earlier this month, Scientific Games revealed Q1 revenue fell 13% year-on-year as the impact of coronavirus and casino closures began to bite.
