Scientific Games breaks 50 million Grand National bets barrier
OpenSports supplier reveals one operator client registered 57,000 bets per minute at festival peak

More than 50 million bets were placed during the 2021 Grand National festival through Scientific Games’ OpenSports betting platform, the supplier has revealed.
Scientific Games, which counts Sky Bet, Paddy Power Betfair, Ladbrokes, Coral and William Hill as key UK customers, recorded more than 19 million bets on the flagship Aintree Grand National race, an increase of 60.5% on last year.
One betting operator – widely considered to be Sky Bet – saw 57,000 bets per minute processed during the peak of the event, which was held without spectators for the first time ever.
Total account transactions across the three-day festival rose 55% year-on-year.
The OpenSports platform experienced no downtime during the event.
