Scientific Games acquires Elk Studios
Supplier giant bolsters content-led strategic vision after securing deal for Swedish gaming studio

Scientific Games has completed the acquisition of game development studio Elk Studios in an undisclosed deal.
The Las Vegas-based supplier has moved to add the European firm to its growing content creation-led ecosystem following the acquisitions of slot developer Lightning Box and live casino solutions provider Authentic Gaming in recent months.
Scientific Games will absorb the Stockholm-based developer and will look to launch Elk Studios’ content throughout the US and Canada, while further consolidating its position in the European market.
Scientific Games confirmed Elk Studios would continue to operate independently to develop new content, while benefiting from Scientific Games’ extensive market reach, commercial scale and North American expertise.
Barry Cottle, Scientific Games CEO, said: “Acquiring Elk Studios demonstrates once again our commitment to make targeted, value-enhancing investments designed to advance our cross-platform content capabilities.
“The highly synergistic combination of their top-ranked games and our leading OpenGaming ecosystem offers exciting distribution opportunities in the US and Canada. I am thrilled to welcome them to our team,” he added.
Filip Säfbeck, Elk Studios CEO, commented: “This deal is the fruit of many years of hard work by a team that is fully committed to crafting high-quality online gaming experiences.
“We see it as the perfect time to join the Scientific Games team, given that our ambitions to grow through innovation and into the US and Canada are in total alignment,” he concluded.
Last month, Scientific Games has posted a 25% year-on-year (YoY) rise in Q3 2021 revenue as the company praised its decision to sell off its lottery and sports betting business.
