American casino firm launches sports betting in Colombia as a stepping stone to US market

Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has gone live with a Kambi-powered sportsbook in Colombia after receiving its local licence last week.
The release of rushbet.co comes less than a month after Kambi and RSI announced their sportsbook partnership in the wake of the PASPA repeal.
Ahead of the Colombia launch, Kambi and RSI completed a platform integration, with the Kambi sportsbook product now embedded within RSI’s proprietary platform.
After the integration process, RSI has a high level of autonomy over the Kambi sportsbook so the US operator can adapt the technology to its own requirements.
“RSI is thrilled to be the first US-based operator to enter the regulated Colombian online gaming market where there are over 48 million people, a significant existing land-based casino market, and a player base that likes to gamble,” said Richard Schwartz, RSI president.
“Betting and sports are cultural passions in Colombia so we’re excited to combine those with our mission to provide players with compelling and trusted online gambling experiences.”
Kambi CCO Max Meltzer added: “As a pure sportsbook supplier, a deep and high-quality platform integration is crucial if customers are to receive the full benefit of the Kambi sportsbook.
“The integration with RSI’s high-quality platform in terms of depth is a fine example of the qualities of Kambi’s scalable technology, leaving the combination of our platforms well prepared for Colombia and soon for the U.S. market,” he added.
