Rootz promotes CCO to CEO after just 12 months with the firm
Supplier promotes Sam Brown to top job to complement recent CMO and compliance chief additions

Rootz has promoted chief commercial officer (CCO) Sam Brown to CEO after just 12 months with the company.
Brown will replace long-term CEO and co-founder Lasse Rantala as chief executive, with the latter stepping up to become chair of the board.
Brown joined the supplier in 2022 after a three-year stint with Hero Gaming as CCO.
Brown’s industry CV includes senior marketing roles with Ladbrokes and Betfair as well as serving as MD of Betsson’s CasinoEuro B2C brands.
He also had a spell as live casino director at NetEnt and as CEO of Rolla Services.
Touching on his promotion, Brown said: “After an exciting first year at Rootz my passion for the business has only grown stronger.
“We have a great vision for the future, and have the people, technology and ambition to deliver it. It’s an honour to be entrusted with the next phase of the Rootz journey.”
Outgoing CEO Rantala added: “As I pass on the mantle of CEO to Sam, I am filled with immense pride and confidence.
“Sam’s commitment to excellence, strategic mindset and passion for innovation make him the perfect fit to lead Rootz into its next chapter.
“I have full faith in his ability to steer our company to even greater heights and the board is fully dedicated to offering him unwavering support every step of the way.”
Brown’s promotion follows two further additions to the group’s C-suite in recent weeks.
Firstly, head of compliance Giacomo Bulian was named chief compliance officer last month after joining the firm as head of compliance in August 2021.
The Italian previously spent time with Kaizen Gaming, Betsson and bet-at-home.
Secondly, Rootz added Martin Kunath as chief marketing officer from stock trading site nextmarkets AG.
