Rootz adds to C-suite with new chief revenue and operations officer
Challenger brand taps former Spiffbet head Maria Boelius in latest senior appointment following CEO switch last summer
Rootz has named former Spiffbet exec Maria Boelius as the operator’s new chief revenue and operations officer.
Boelius joins the brand after leaving Spiffbet in September 2023, having served as the group’s chief operating officer since October 2020.
She moved to Spiffbet after the firm acquired Mozebra, an online casino brand that Boelius and her partner founded in 2016.
Boelius also founded rSEO-focused affiliate business MH Media in November 2013.
The new Rootz exec began her career in the world of finance before moving into igaming with Redbet in Finland in 2012.
In joining Rootz, Boelius becomes the latest addition to the firm’s refreshed C-suite following the appointment of Sam Brown as CEO in July last year.
Brown had been serving as the group’s chief commercial officer and was pushed to the top job after 12 months when former CEO and Rootz founder moved to become chair of the business.
Prior to Brown’s appointment, Rootz promoted Giacomo Bulian to chief compliance officer and added Martin Kunath as chief marketing officer from trading site nextmarkets AG.
Speaking on joining the operator, Boelius said: “What drew me to Rootz is the integrity of the company, the reputation of which I have admired for some time. It’s a pleasure to work with the teams in what I believe is going to be a productive and rewarding time.”
Rootz CEO Brown added: “Maria is a seasoned professional and experienced leader, with a style and drive that aligns closely with our core values at Rootz.
“She brings a wealth of practical expertise to the business and I’m confident she will add strength, depth and diversity to our ever-evolving leadership team.”
