BetMGM appoints M&A lawyer as chief legal officer
Andrew Hagopian joins from MGM Resorts where he was instrumental in forging the GVC/MGM JV

BetMGM has appointed MGM Resorts’ chief corporate counsel Andrew Hagopian to lead its legal team and oversee compliance for the group.
Having spent nearly 10 years with MGM, Hagopian was instrumental in forging the operator’s JV with GVC.
He previously led a legal team at MGM that covered gaming regulatory matters, property operations, joint ventures and corporate transactions, among other hospitality and gaming responsibilities.
Prior to that, Hagopian was an attorney with international law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where he represented a number of Fortune 100 companies.
He specialized in M&A and corporate transactions.
On his new role as chief legal officer, Hagopian said: “This is an exciting opportunity to leverage my industry and transactional experience at a fast-moving company in a complex, regulated environment where a strong continued commitment to excellence in compliance will be essential to our success.”
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said: “Andrew’s deep industry experience, and proven ability to build and lead a world-class legal team, will serve BetMGM well as we continue to grow rapidly in a dynamic industry.”
GVC recently promoted its director of regulatory affairs Martin Lycka to the newly created role of senior VP of US regulatory affairs and responsible gambling.
