Report: CS:GO most popular betting esport in 2020
Data from Cypriot esports bookmaker Loot.Bot breaks down significant year for the industry

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) was the most popular esports title to bet on in 2020, according to a report from esports-centric operator Loot.Bet.
The Valve-developed title occupied a 53% share of the total wagers placed on Loot.Bet for the full-year.
Taking the remaining podium places were Dota 2 and League of Legends, with the titles securing 35% and 7% of total wagers respectively.
The previously unpopular FIFA (in terms of esports) leapt into fourth place thanks mainly due to the sports shutdown in H1 2020 which left traditional sports fans starved of action.
Valorant, which was only released in June 2020, placed seventh in most popular esport, beating the established giants of Overwatch and Rocket League.
The average bet size across all esports was €20 (£17.84), with the League of Legends’ average bet size the largest of the leading titles at €32.24.
In terms of geographies, Hungary played host to the most active bettors of 2020, followed by Japan and Switzerland.
Overall, Loot.Bet recorded a 67% increase in betting volumes year-on-year while the active number of users jumped 58% from 2019 to 2020.
