Rei do Pitaco chief technology officer and COO steps down
Phyllipe Medeiros leaves the Brazilian operator after serving in two different C-suite positions across three years
Rei do Pitaco’s chief technology officer (CTO), Phyllipe Medeiros, has announced his departure from the Brazilian daily fantasy sports (DFS) and sports betting operator.
Medeiros first joined the company back in December 2021, and was responsible for leading the operator’s engineering teams out of São Paulo.
Alongside serving as the firm’s CTO, Mederios also held the position of COO during his time with the company.
Prior to joining Rei do Pitaco, Medeiros worked as a senior software engineer at Meta between 2012 and 2021.
Writing on LinkedIn about his move, Medeiros confirmed his intentions to pursue a career in the field of AI.
He wrote: “It was three incredible years at Rei do Pitaco, alongside Mateus Dantas (chairman and co-founder) and Kiko Augusto (CEO and co-founder), building an exceptional team.
“Now, it’s time to start from scratch. Artificial Intelligence is transforming the world, and I want to be part of that revolution.
“I’m looking for people with a lot of desire and capacity for accelerated learning, especially in computer vision.”
Responding to Medeiros’ post, Augusto said: “It’s been a privilege building Rei do Pitaco with you these past three years; your drive and vision are something unique.
“Wishing you all the best as you embark on this new journey, I’ve no doubt you’ll leave an incredible mark.”
Rei do Pitaco was one of the operators to receive a licence for the regulated Brazilian market, which went live on 1 January 2025.
The operator first submitted its licence application in July 2024, before receiving approval from Brazil’s Ministry of Finance towards the end of the year.
Having first established itself as a DFS app, the company also runs a sportsbook powered by Kambi, in addition to an online casino platform.
