Ray sees gaming revenues rise
Registered online player numbers double although online still contributes just 6% of total.

Finnish operator Ray has seen its revenues from gaming operations rise 6.1% year-on-year to 377.7m, the company has announced in its results for the six months ended 30 June.
Online activities account for 6% of the operator’s gaming revenues, or approximately 22.7m, after the company generated 29.7m in online revenues throughout the entirety of 2011.
The online operations, provided by Playtech and launched in November 2010, saw the number of new registered players nearly double over the course of the half-year, to the point that Ray had close to 185,000 registered players in June 2012.
Ray’s poker offering currently lies 35th on Pokerscout’s rankings table despite Ray holding the only dot.fi poker licence, with a number of Finnish players believed to have been drawn to PokerStars since it began to serve the country from its dot.eu platform earlier this year.
According to figures from Ray, approximately 130m is spent on egaming by Finnish players, with more than 60 international gaming sites offering their services in Finnish.
The bulk of Ray’s half-year profits came from slot machines in partner premises, which generated more than 75% of the operator’s profits. However the overall bottom line was hit by an increase in lottery tax, with the 45.2m payment representing a 27.4% increase on the corresponding period in 2011.
