Racecourse Media Group promotes from within for new chief betting officer
Ben Dowding to lead combined teams with a global focus following the merger of domestic and international betting divisions

Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has promoted director of betting, Ben Dowding, to the new role of chief betting officer after the merger of the firm’s domestic and international betting teams.
Dowding will now lead the combined teams, with RMG highlighting the ongoing approach from operator clients to tackle rights acquisitions on a global basis.
Dowding joined RMG in 2013 as head of partnerships after spending four years at the Jockey Club, before being promoted to head of B2B in January 2014.
He was then named director of betting four years later, with a remit to focus on RMG’s domestic betting, streaming and data business with bookmakers.
In the role, Dowding helped to oversee the transition from a Bet to View model to a Watch & Bet turnover model.
More recently, Dowding led RMG’s development of in-play pricing via Coursetrack’s GPS data in conjunction with Pythia Sports while also representing RMG’s shareholding on the board of the Dublin-based retail betting technology specialists BoscaSports.
Nick Mills, RMG chief commercial officer, said: “Ben has a huge amount of expertise in the sector and I wish him every success leading the team to capture new international opportunities.”
On the promotion, Dowding added: “I am delighted to have been asked to expand my responsibilities internationally.
“There are significant and exciting opportunities to enhance further both revenues and awareness for British and Irish racing via this new collaborative approach to the domestic and global betting markets.”
