Poll results: sportsbook will help expand Betfair's reach
More than three fifths of readers expect new product to help operator conquer new markets.

Following interim CEO Stephen Morana’s announcement that Betfair is close to releasing a fixed-odds sportsbook, the majority of eGaming Review readers (62%) believe the new product will help the exchange operator conquer new markets.
The sportsbook, which will be distinct from the operator’s core exchange product, is anticipated to give Betfair a foothold in those markets where exchange betting is outlawed.
In one of these, South Africa, Betfair has already withdrawn from the market ahead of a fixed-odds sports betting licence application in the Western Cape province.
However some 38% were not convinced that the new offering would have this impact for Betfair, with the company set to bring its core offering to new markets such as California in May and Italy as soon as the country’s exchange betting decree receives the necessary approvals.
