Poll: Is there still a future for DFS in the UK?
This week we ask whether FanDuel’s departure from the UK is a hint towards a declining market

FanDuel announced late last week it had suspended its UK operations less than a year after launching DFS in the market.
The firm said in a statement provided to EGR it would be investing all its resources into its US operations, ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
An email sent out to customers said: “Unfortunately, we will not be offering contests in the UK this upcoming season. We hope to be back in the future, bringing you more of the games you love.”
The move has prompted industry stakeholders to debate whether DFS can compete in a market already dominated by fixed odds betting.
“The UK clearly has no appetite for the monetised version of fantasy sport”, CEO of sports trader statistics software Algosports, Leigh Herdman commented on LinkedIn.
However, several firms are still plying their trade in the UK DFS market, including DraftKings, Yahoo DFS and PlayOn, as well as Amaya’s DFS-style product, Sports Jackpots.
And DraftKings for one sees a future for its product, telling Legal Sports Report on Friday: ““We are fully-committed to international expansion.
“The players I know here in the UK love our product, and we are consistently working towards attracting more of them through various promotional and educational efforts.
With that in mind, this week we ask if FanDuel’s demise is a sign of things to come, or does DFS still have a future in the UK?
