PokerStars to relocate certain London operations to new Sofia hub
New Bulgaria office to initially house 100-150 staff focused on operations

PokerStars’ parent company Amaya is opening a new office in Sofia, Bulgaria to house much of the operations currently carried out by the firm’s London office, EGR Intel has learned.
Customer support staff in the Amaya office in London’s West End were told Tuesday their roles were being relocated over the next 12-15 months, with the option of moving to the new office in Bulgaria or other existing offices around the world.
The new hub in Sofia will initially house 100-150 staff, with a recruitment drive kicking off “imminently” and expected to last up to a year.
The office will house operations staff with a focus on the firm’s growing online casino and sports betting businesses.
EGR understands the move is part of Amaya’s stated strategy of operational excellence with Sofia more cost-efficient than the West End.
The city is also home to a growing number of gaming companies, including William Hill and Bede Gaming.
Amaya will maintain a London presence of around 150 marketing services staff following the relocation.
The new hub is the third office opened by Amaya in recent months, with the firm also unveiling a second building on the Isle of Man and a larger space in Malta last week.
The company is scheduled to complete its corporate name change to The Stars Group by the end of August.
