PointsBet expands US footprint into West Virginia
Australia-headquartered operator to introduce in-house online casino product in near future

PointsBet has rolled out its sports betting apps and website in West Virginia.
The company secured access to the Mountain State through a market-access deal with Penn National Gaming announced in July 2019.
The launch marks the seventh operational state for the ASX-listed firm following New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado and Michigan.
With West Virginia being one of six states to offer regulated igaming, PointsBet said the plan is to introduce its proprietary online casino product there “in the near future”.
As well as a $20 free bet offer, PointsBet also unveiled the “Take Me Home” booster, which offered customers even money (+100) for any MLB team to score just one run on August 15.
Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO, said: “Launching in West Virginia is a special moment for PointsBet and presents another tremendous opportunity we are excited to attack.
“As always, PointsBet will provide this passionate, sports-loving community with the fastest and most reliable online sports betting product across every customer touchpoint.”
West Virginia went live with sports betting in August 2018, becoming the fifth state to do so following Nevada, New Jersey, Delaware and Mississippi.
It was also the third to offer state-wide mobile sports wagering, although things got off to a rocky start.
At the end of July, PointsBet triggered a A$400m share rights issue with the aim to jumpstart its assault on the US market.
The firm also revealed US GGR rocketed 1,859% year on year in its fiscal fourth quarter.
