Playtech announces RAY deal extension
Two-year agreement follows successful launch of state-owned egaming site in 2010
Playtech has announced it has signed a two-year extension to its licence agreement with Finland’s state gaming operator, Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY).
Playtech has been providing RAY with online casino, poker and mobile products since 2010 after a successful tender bid saw the gaming software supplier win a four-year contract. The launch of the gaming site followed a move by the Finnish government to amend the operator’s gaming licence to permit online gaming earlier that year.
RAY “ which holds the exclusive right to manage all licensed gaming operations in Finland “ posted almost 50m GGR last year. According to the operator’s half-year results in 2012, online activities account for around 6% of the operator’s gaming revenues.
Playtech COO Shay Segev said: “With the recent launch of Playtech’s mobile casino, RAY will have yet another platform to drive revenue and engage players in the Finnish market for years to come. RAY is a strategic Playtech partner, demonstrating our strong position in regulated markets.”
Earlier this week Playtech recorded 16% year-on-year revenue growth for the three months ended 31 March, with casino contributing more than half of the 87.5m total after growing 28% compared to the corresponding period in 2012.
