PlayStar nets ex-Entain and bet365 lead as head of marketing operations
Antony Ballesteros joins US online casino startup following successful New Jersey launch

PlayStar has appointed former Rank Group and Entain head Antony Ballesteros as the online casino challenger brand’s new head of marketing operations.
Ballesteros joins the operator after 16 months with Rank Group in Gibraltar as the firm’s head of high value and rewards.
He joined Rank from Entain where he spent more than seven years with the company.
Ballesteros originally joined Ladbrokes Coral in March 2014 as a VIP team leader before being named head of account and relationship management for Gala in October 2018.
He also boasts VIP experience from a four-year stint with bet365.
Speaking on his appointment, Ballesteros said: “[I’m] delighted to share that I’m starting a new position as head of marketing operations at PlayStar.
“[I’m looking forward to joining an incredible team and exploring the US market.”
Ballesteros links up with PlayStar after it secured a $15m equity investment from Meyer Global Management (MGM) to fund its growth.
Speaking to EGR in January, PlayStar CEO Per Hellberg confirmed that since launching in August PlayStar had outperformed senior management’s “wildest forecasts”.
The company has a remote-first workforce that includes co-founder Adam Noble (formerly of Play’n GO) COO Dan Alexander (ex-head of casino at bet365) and CMO John Bowden who was previously with Entain.
