Paf confirms tech education programme to continue in 2024
Operator’s teacher-free grit:lab scheme continues to move from strength to strength following last year’s launch

Paf’s teacher-free coding programme grit:lab will welcome a new batch of students next year following its successful launch.
Application tests begin in December 2023, with an online test for the new set of developers will take place in February 2024.
Successful candidates will then join the scheme in autumn 2024.
Grit:lab was first announced in 2021, with the operator onboarding 50 students to learn how to be software developers in the Nordics.
After expanding the programme to 70 students in August 2022, Paf will now look to educate a new group of students next year.
Anna-Lena Svenblad, development director for Paf and director of grit:lab, said: “The fantastic response we have received both from the students and from many visiting groups is proof that there is a need for this type of education. It is a form of education that will meet the future needs of the job market.”
The Paf education platform is teacherless and has attracted students from over 20 different countries.
Svenblad continued by highlighting the freedom students get and how it is important for them to manage several aspects of the experience including “self-leadership, collaboration” and developing communication skills.
Svenblad added: “It is mainly about learning how to learn and adopt new technologies effectively. It is about self-leadership, time management, collaboration, solving complex problems, developing your communication skills, having the courage to experiment, being resilient and determined as well as learning from mistakes.
“The students at grit:lab have a great freedom and with that freedom comes huge responsibility to push themselves and the group forward.”
Fredrik Wiklund, Paf’s chief technology officer, added: “I am impressed by how much the tech students have already learnt. Two of them worked as summer trainees in our sysops team over the summer and at the same time they managed to get certified for AWS cloud services. This is a programme that we at Paf can be proud of.”
