OpenBet sets new records during Euro 2024 as bet builder use soars 470%
CTO Florian Diederichsen highlights sports betting supplier’s “reliable” role to operators during the tournament as bet builder demand leaps

OpenBet has reported new records for total bets placed and bets processed per minute at Euro 2024 as it hailed its “match-winning role” in the tournament.
The championships, in which Spain beat England 2-1 in the final, ran between 14 June and 14 July, with the sports betting supplier processing more than 140 million bets during the month.
According to OpenBet, which provides services for several operators including Flutter, William Hill and Entain, £73m was staked on the final alone and more than £850m was wagered across the 51 games played.
Spain and England were the most heavily backed nations in the outright winner market during the knockout stages, with the eventual winners having started the tournament as fifth favourites at 9/1.
Austria, who lost in the round of 16 to Turkey, took 20% of the outright winner bets on 25 and 26 June after beating the Netherlands 3-2 in the group stage. They finished as winners of Group D and, in the process, their odds dropped from 40-1 to 16-1.
SportCast’s bet builder product saw a 470% increase in betslips when compared to Euro 2020 due to “new features, bettor demand and new players adopting the product”.
The supplier also reported 100% uptime during the tournament.
Florian Diederichsen, OpenBet’s CTO, highlighted the role the organisation played during the tournament, saying: “Euro 2024 captured the imaginations of sports fans and bettors across Europe, with OpenBet truly ‘bringing it home’ for operators.
“Our robust platform technology once again played a match-winning role in processing a significant volume of bets and delivering a reliable and safe betting experience for our customers.
“We delivered new records in bets processed per-minute and overall bets placed for operators and are proud to play a key role in their success towards continued growth.”
