
Online casino GGR in Denmark hits record high for 2024
Statistics released by the country’s regulator shows gross gaming revenue for the vertical increased 15% year on year to DKK3.5bn

The Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) has reported online casino’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached DKK3.5bn (£390m), its highest level recorded since market’s regulation in 2012.
The regulator’s full-year 2024 figures showed online casino grew 14.7% year on year (YoY), up from DKK3.1bn in 2023.
December was the top performing month for online casino GGR last year at DKK347m, a 13.6% YoY rise, with April the lowest at DKK273m
Looking at online casino’s GGR by game type, slots accounted for the lion’s share at 78.2%, with blackjack next at 6.7%. Roulette GGR came in at 6.4% and “other” at 2.9%.

Betting’s GGR in 2024 was DKK2.2bn, a modest rise of 1.2% from 2023, with June recording the highest figure at DKK271m and January the lowest at DKK143m. December’s betting GGR was DKK191m.
Breaking betting GGR down by channel, mobile accounted for 70.4%, while desktop made up 15.1% and land-based the remaining 14.5%.
GGR for the overall gambling market in the Scandinavian country, including land-based, amounted to DKK14bn, up from DKK13.5bn the previous year.
Denmark’s Register of Self-Excluded Players (ROFUS) had 55,899 registrations in December 2024, split between 36,626 permanently registered players and 19,273 temporary signups.

The December 2024 figure continues the growing numbers of players signing up, with 46,152 customers registered the year prior and 38,921 in 2022.
Broken down by gender, 78% of registrants were men and 22% women.
For Denmark’s gambling helpline, the number of StopSpillet-related conversations in December 2024 was 38, with 544 across the entirety of 2024.
This was slightly up on the 520 conversations in 2023, though the December figure was down from 44 the year prior.
Online casino conversations on StopSpillet in 2024 were reported at 52.1%, followed by online betting at 27%.
Both figures were up on 2023 where online casino stood at 41.8% and online betting at 33%.
For the month of December, online casino conversations stood at 43.5%, slightly up from the 42.9% figure the year prior, while online betting was 17.4%, down significantly from 35.7% in 2023.
