Oddschecker recruits former Sky Betting & Gaming MD as new CMO
Rob Painter arrives at Hammersmith-based affiliate on interim basis to grow recreational audiences of both oddschecker and WhoScored

Oddschecker has bolstered its executive team with the appointment of former Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) MD of people and brands Rob Painter as its new chief marketing officer (CMO).
Painter – who will occupy the CMO role on an interim basis – has returned to the online gambling industry for the first time since September 2020.
Prior to that, he spent one year as CMO for the UK Tote Group. That came following five influential years with SBG in Leeds where he held an MD role encompassing people, culture and marketing.
Painter now works as a consultant to the wider industry and is non-executive chairman at Hitchin-based marketing and creative ad agency Fall off the Wall (FOTW).
He is also an experienced newsman, having spent more than 15 years in various insights, strategy and marketing roles at The Sun publisher News International.
Painter, who will report into Oddschecker Global Media COO Rob Wilson, said: “Ensuring that both the oddschecker and WhoScored brands increasingly resonate with the UK’s growing recreational player base will be my primary focus over the next 12 months.
“With this audience in mind, oddschecker’s early foray into co-branded content has proven very successful and our efforts here will soon be bolstered by a purpose-built studio at oddschecker’s Hammersmith headquarters.
“Oddschecker has one of the most sizeable and engaged betting audiences in the country. There’s more we can do with that, but also a responsibility to champion safer gambling.
“That was a brand focus at Sky Bet and I will look to build on it here at oddschecker,” he added.
In July, Flutter Entertainment sold Oddschecker Global Media to US investment firm Bruin Capital in a deal worth £155m.
