North Star Network acquires Lakersbrasil.com in Latam push
Affiliate dips its toes into Brazil by purchasing website dedicated to NBA’s LA Lakers
North Star Network has acquired Brazilian basketball website Lakersbrasil.com as it looks to tap into the growing Latam market.
The website, which was launched in 2006, is one of the largest NBA team news portals in Brazil.
The platform includes important news, features and statistics regarding the LA Lakers and their star players LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Basketball has continued to grow in popularity in Brazil, with the sport ranking second in the country’s favourite sports behind football.
According to a 2021 Google Sports Study, Google searches in the country for James were equal to that of Gabigol, one of the star players for Brazilian football club Flamengo.
