Norsk Tipping unveils its next CEO
Norway’s monopoly operator selects Thor Gjermund Eriksen to lead company after nearly a decade with state broadcaster

Norsk Tipping has appointed Thor Gjermund Eriksen as its new CEO to replace Åsne Havnelid following six years in the role.
Eriksen will join the state-owned operator from Norway’s public broadcasting company NRK where he serves as head of broadcasting.
He joined NRK in 2013 and despite his contract with the company running until 2025, has decided to join the monopoly operator.
Eriksen will assume his new role on 12 September.
He will replace Havnelid as CEO of Norsk Tipping after she announced she was stepping down in January.
Havnelid will remain in the top job until Eriksen’s arrival.
She originally joined Norsk Tipping, which offers lottery, sports and instant games, in 2016 from the Norwegian Red Cross.
Speaking on his appointment, Eriksen said: “This is a very exciting and challenging job and I am very happy to have had this opportunity.
“Norsk Tipping’s social mission is important for the whole of Norway, for the players and for the sports, culture and humanitarian sector that are completely dependent on the means of gambling,” he added.
Linda Bernander Silseth, Norsk Tipping chair, said: “I am confident that [Thor Gjermund] Eriksen is the right person to strengthen Norsk Tipping’s role as a responsible and attractive gambling provider.”
