Norsk Tipping tightens daily and monthly loss limits
Norwegian operator looking to curb gambling-related harm throughout festive period in wide-ranging RG drive

Norwegian monopoly operator Norsk Tipping has implemented new temporary daily and monthly loss limits in an attempt to curb gambling harm over the festive period.
Norsk Tipping has reduced its previous monthly loss limit by 25% to £592 across self-categorised ‘high-risk’ games, which include KongKasino, eFlax, Bingoria and Yezz.
In terms of daily loss limits, Norsk Tipping has lowered the threshold by 50% to £170 for the four titles above, as well as increasing the duration of the mandatory break feature from 90 seconds to 15 minutes following one hour of continuous play.
Norsk Tipping will also remove the ‘popular’ label that is tagged on some of its online casino games, and customers aged 18 to 25 will cease to receive marketing content via text message and email.
The measures, which came into effect on 1 December, will continue through to the end of January 2021 as Norsk Tipping looks to mitigate the expected increase in traffic across its sites over the holiday season.
Åsne Havnelid, Norsk Tipping CEO, said: “We know that gambling problems are increasing in the population, and that December is our biggest gambling month. We will use the experiences from December and January in the decision basis for the long-term measures.
“The measures against Covid-19 mean that more people can experience spending more time alone than they usually do during the Christmas month. For vulnerable players, this can lead to more gambling, and we want to prevent that,” she added.
