MRG and Bethard granted Swedish licences
MRG licence will give William Hill a foothold in the market once its acquisition is finalised

MRG and Bethard are the latest operators be granted five-year licences by the Swedish Gaming Authority (SpelInspektionen).
Stockholm-listed MRG will be able to operate both its Mr Green and Evoke Gaming brands in the market come January 2019.
MRG’s licence gives William Hill access to the market once its SEK 2.8bn (£242m) acquisition is finalised.
At the time of the announcement, the London-listed operator said purchasing MRG would expand its European footprint and give the firm a foothold in the Nordics.
MRG group CEO Per Norman welcomed the announcement and said he looked forward to offering an updated version of the Green Gaming tool in the jurisdiction.
“We are especially happy about the strong emphasis on responsible gaming in the Swedish regulation since Green Gaming has been part of our strategy since the start of the company ten years ago,” Norman said.
Bethard also received a licence for a host of sites including its flagship betahrd.se, as well as fastbet.com and scandibet.com.
Bethard CEO, Erik Skarp, said: “Sweden is, for many reasons, a very dear market to us and I am personally looking forward to show what we can do in terms of responsible gaming on our home market. Our goal is to become Europe’s leading betting company, not only in terms of innovation but also in terms of having the courage to take the right decisions in order to be a truly responsible gaming company”.
The Stars Group and Betway also received Swedish licences from Spelinspektionen earlier this week.
