Morocco’s state lottery amends tender bid timeline
Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports reveals dual extension to competition to allow firms greater time to formulate bids

Morocco’s state lottery has amended the timeline for its tender to find a new operator to run its lottery, sports betting and pari-mutuel offering.
Having originally set out the timetable in January, Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS) has now extended the deadlines to allow more firms to bid for the contract.
The tender submission deadline has been extended from 4 April until 31 May.
The start of the licence has also been moved, from 1 January 2023 to 1 January 2024.
The licence will run for an initial eight years with an additional option of a two year extension.
The bidding process is divided into two lots.
The first lot covers fixed-odds sports betting and pari-mutuel betting, except for betting on horse and greyhound racing.
The second lot applies to lotteries, instant sports lotteries (including electronic instant games) and raffles.
Bidders can submit a proposal for one or both lots, which means that multiple bidders could be successful.
The original bid document and bid security fees of MAD10,000 (£798) and MAD3m (£240,000) will remain the same.
A Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports statement read: “This extension of time is in line with the MDJS’ constant willingness to establish a trustworthy and sustainable partnership with the global community of operators and technology providers.”
