Mobile to play central role in GTECHâs future
Supplier expects 40% of interactive revenue to be derived from mobile devices by 2016
GTECH has highlighted mobile as central to its strategy over the next two years with a focus on emerging markets.
CEO Marco Sala outlined the plans as his firm recorded a 23% slide in full-year profits for 2013 on the back of a 7% fall in online wagering in Italy.
The group has forecast for the global egaming industry to grow at a CAGR of 10% over the next two years with the mobile channel proving to be a huge driver of this growth, and expects 40% of its total online revenue to be derived from mobile devices by 2016.
The supplierâs current mobile portfolio include casino and sportsbetting apps in Italy as well as lottery apps that have been rolled out in some US states.
But GTECH now wants to accelerate its mobile penetration and align its efforts on the platform alongside other content investments, while also linking its mobile suite to its other online and retail-based products.
Sala also paid special mention to the firmâs approach for London-based mobile developer Probability which it looks set to acquire for £18m next month, subject to regulatory approvals.
