MGA in clampdown with two licence revocations and warning
Maltese regulator flexes its muscle as two supplies fail to pay fees and one operator falsely claimed to be associated with the body

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has cancelled two licences and hit out at a errant operator in a major crackdown this week.
The regulator began the week by distancing itself from operating nl-bet.ng after the operator included references to the MGA on its site.
The MGA refuted the claims and stated that any reference from the operator was “false and misleading”.
The regulator added: “The activities of unlicensed entities are unregulated and do not provide the necessary safeguards delineated by virtue of the framework, making transactions with such entities risky for consumers.”
Secondly, the MGA issued its first licence cancellation of the week to supplier Totup System Limited.
The MGA established that the supplier failed to pay the applicable licence fees for 2022 and 2023, with these outstanding fees amounting to €50,000.
The regulator also noted that Totup had repeatedly failed to pay the applicable compliance contribution fees to the MGA.
Totup has 20 days to appeal the licence cancellation in writing, with the MGA still demanding the settlement of all outstanding monies.
Finally, the MGA cancelled the licence of fellow supplier 4tune-Software GmbH after the firm failed to pay commitments owed to the MGA.
4tune-Software had its licence cancelled on 28 March and is required to settle the outstanding fees with immediate effect.
