
Matchbook COO to depart for Racing Post role
Cian Nugent to join the trade paper in 2019 to lead betting and affiliates business


Matchbook’s COO Cian Nugent is set to depart his role at the exchange operator for a new position at the Racing Post, EGR can reveal.
Nugent will become betting and affiliates director at the trade newspaper, responsible for growing that part of the business.
He will take up the position at the start of 2019 after seven years at Matchbook, including the last five as COO.
Previously Nugent spent two years as a senior operations manager at Betdaq.
“Cian has a wealth of expertise and experience within the digital betting space which will be invaluable as we continue our ambitious plans to grow the business,” said Mark Renshaw, Racing Post‘s managing director, digital.
“The introduction of Cian to Racing Post’s talented senior team means we are capable of rapidly delivering the business plan while also exploring new opportunities.”

The affiliate part of the business is becoming increasingly importany for the Racing Post, with the company nominated for both Affiliate of the Year and Sports Affiliate of the Year at this years’ EGR Operator Awards.
