
Lottomatica strengthens its position in Italy in August


Lottomatica shook off the post-season sleepiness to extend its Italian online sports betting market share in August.
After a charge from bet365 in July saw the Stoke-on-Trent-based firm eat into Lottomatica’s share, the Goldbet operator returned to form in August as domestic football returned.
Goldbet posted gross gaming revenue (GGR) of €19.9m in August, resulting in a market share of 18.5%.
Bolting on the firm’s Betflag brand, with GGR of €1.2m and market share of 1.07%, eked Lottomatica to an impressive 20% total sports betting market snare.
Bet365 slipped from second in July to fourth in August as GGR amounted to €13.7m and marketing share landing at 12.7%.
Sisal and Snaitech returned to second and third, respectively, after solid months for the Flutter and Playtech brands.
Sisal reported GGR of €15.1m and market share of 14.1% while Snaitech notched GGR of €13.8m and market share of 12.9%.
SKS365 and Eurobet closed out the top six with GGR of €10.9m and €9.8m, respectively.
Bet365 continued to dominate the market share based on turnover metric at 24.2%, with Goldbet landing at 14.8%.
In terms of online casino, Lottmatica’s Goldbet brand retained its strong market leading position after securing a market share of 15.2% off the back of €29.4m in GGR.
Betflag retained its fifth placed position in the online casino rankings, making for a formidable duo in the top six for the Milan-listed operator. Betflag reported GGR of €12.9m and a corresponding market share of 6.6%.
Snaitech overtook Sisal to jump into second place in August with GGR of €16.3m and market share of 8.4%.
PokerStars remained in fourth place with GGR of €13.5m while SKS365 pipped 888 to sixth.
