
LiveScore Group names four new department heads as it lays out 2023 ambitions
Sam Sadi-led firm promotes Alex Cottee to become group’s first-ever head of PR, with heads for social media, legal and editorial also confirmed


LiveScore Group has promoted four new heads of department as the firm looks to cement its growth ambitions after a strong 2022.
The LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet parent company has appointed PR stalwart Alex Cottee as the company’s first-ever head of PR.
The Australian will lead the group’s expanded focus on comms, with the next 12 months dedicated to a series of key internal and external campaigns.
Cottee joined LiveScore Group in July 2019 as a commercial marketing manager from Sportsbet, before rising up the ranks to become PR and marketing comms manager in March 2021.
Speaking to EGR about his new role, Cottee said: “The past four years have been extremely exciting as PR has played an increasingly prominent role within our marketing mix. I’m thrilled to have been a part of this evolution, so it is an honour to lead the department as the first-ever head of PR for LiveScore Group.
“At LiveScore Group, we are on a mission to be the ultimate destination for sports fans through our pioneering convergence model. I’m hugely energised by the role PR can play in reaching new audiences and telling our brand story.
“In tandem with MatchFit, our trusted PR agency partner, and our fantastic internal team, I’m looking forward to pushing our work to be bigger, bolder and better than ever in 2023,” he added.
Elsewhere, Joe Nelson has been named head of social content following a period of strong growth in the vertical for the firm.
Nelson, who has served as social media manager since October 2021, has played a key role in LiveScore Group gaining three million followers across social media since January 2022.
The promotion will see Nelson handed a remit of driving commercial opportunities from various channels, along with a new focus on long-form video content.
Nelson said: “The past year has been a great exercise in how to build an engaged audience in a crowded space. I’m now really excited by the challenge ahead and how we’ll work alongside various teams in order to create content that can be commercialised across our various channels.”
In the group’s legal division, former senior legal counsel Joe Clegg as been named as head of legal for the group’s media and property arms.
The former ITV and Charles Russell Speechlys head said: “After working for LiveScore Group for almost four years, I am grateful to have been promoted to head of legal for media and property.
“It is an exciting opportunity to continue working with great teams in a rapidly growing business on one of the world’s leading real-time sports updates and streaming service providers. I look forward to helping bring new features and unique content to our users,” he added.
Finally, former Sunday Times and The Sun editor Jim Munro has been named head of editorial content in a realignment of the group’s content division. Munro has served as head of editorial since May 2020 and driven the group’s sports media portal, LiveScore.
