Leon Thomas leaves NYX to head up Rank bingo brands
Rank Group names former Tombola MD as new chief operating officer for digital bingo brands

Rank Group has hired former Tombola managing director Leon Thomas (pictured) to the lead the development of the operator’s online bingo businesses.
As chief operating officer for digital bingo brands, Thomas will be responsible for driving growth through the operator’s Mecca and Enracha brands and play a prominent role in delivering Rank’s multi-channel strategy.
Thomas will start his new role tomorrow where he will report into the managing director of Mecca Bingo Martin Pugh and work closely with group director of digital and cross-channel services Colin Cole-Johnson.
“I am delighted to be joining the Rank Group at what I see as a very exciting time in its evolution,” Thomas said.
“Rank has fantastic assets and brands and has the potential to substantially grow its digital bingo business both in the UK and internationally,” he added.
The appointment sees Thomas leave his position at NYX Gaming, where he had been the supplier’s managing director of US operations since August 2015.
Prior to his time at NYX Gaming, Thomas spent seven months as VP and general manager at Caesars Interactive Entertainment, although is primarily known for his successful three-and-a-half year stint as Tombola MD between 2011 and 2014.
Rank Group chief executive Henry Birch said the appointment of Thomas would help take its bingo brands to the “next level”.
“Rank is already one of the industry leaders in digital bingo, and with Leon’s wealth of experience, I am confident that he will help us to take our digital based bingo, in the UK and internationally, to the next level, giving our customers a seamless multi-channel experience,” Birch said.
