Kambi promotes sales SVP to chief commercial officer
Sarah Robertson steps into role after Cecilia Wachtmeister left in June, as CEO Werner Becher praises former Paysafe head’s contribution to the sports betting supplier
Kambi has promoted its senior vice-president of sales, Sarah Robertson, to the role of chief commercial officer (CCO) with immediate effect.
Robertson replaces Cecilia Wachtmeister, who departed in June after six years in the job to become CEO of software company IAR.
The new CCO will step into the Stockholm-listed firm’s management team and oversee the entire commercial functions, including sales, partner success and marketing.
Robertson joined Kambi in September 2018 as senior director of sales. A promotion to vice-president of sales came in May 2021, a position she held for nine months before being elevated to senior vice-president.
In those roles, she played a key role in securing new operator partnerships, including deals with Bally’s, LiveScore Group and Svenska Spel.
Prior to arriving at Kambi, Robertson spent eight years at payment firm Paysafe within its Income Access division.
Starting as affiliate marketing coordinator in 2011, she worked her way up the ranks to head of business development in January 2017.
Speaking on Robertson’s promotion, Kambi CEO Werner Becher championed her rise through the firm and backed her to build on Kambi’s “commercial success”.
Becher said: “As senior vice-president of sales at Kambi, Sarah demonstrated strong leadership qualities and an exceptional understanding of our business and the sports betting market.
“Over the years, Sarah has been instrumental in driving new partner signings including Bally’s Corporation, LiveScore Group, Svenska Spel and many more.
“I am excited for her to step into the role of Kambi’s chief commercial officer where she will undoubtedly continue to elevate our commercial success.”
On her promotion, Robertson added: “I am delighted to step into the role of chief commercial officer at such an exciting time for Kambi with the recent expansion of our product portfolio.
“I am eager to build on the strong foundations we’ve created and drive the company towards even greater success as the home of premium sports betting solutions.”
Robertson’s promotion marks another change in the Kambi C-suite, with Becher being named CEO in June to replace co-founder and company figurehead Kristian Nylén.
Since arriving, the former Sportradar head has scrapped Kambi’s 2027 financial targets and laid out his future aspirations of tapping into modular services as a key battleground, as opposed to turnkey solutions.
Kambi’s Q2 results, the first to be published under Becher’s leadership, showed a 7% jump in revenue and a 25% leap in EBITDA for the supplier.
