Jamie Hart outlines Superbet plan as firm hires another former Hills staffer
Rupert Watson joins from Tabcorp as digital FD, having previously spent more than a decade at William Hill

Superbet online chief Jamie Hart is promising to deliver a ‘new customer experience’ after adding yet another former William Hill staffer to the operator’s ranks in the shape of Rupert Watson as digital FD.
Watson, who joined Superbet late last month, held a number of finance roles during his 11-year stint at William Hill, before moving to join professional services firm Capita in 2013.
More recently, Watson was at Australian wagering giant Tabcorp, where he worked alongside Hart on the Tabcorp-powered Sun Bets project.
Hart left Tabcorp to join Superbet as director of ecommerce in February, and has been tasked with building the Romanian operator’s online presence outside of its home market.
“I worked with Rupert at Tabcorp on the Sun Bets operation and was immediately impressed by his honesty and pragmatism,” Hart told EGR Intel this morning.
“His modelling was accurate, and highlighted issues at a very early stage – essential in any start-up.
“He’s also one of those rare finance guys who won’t frig the numbers under duress from his boss,” he added.
Hart also gave a hint of what to expect from Superbet, and how the firm was planning to gain an edge on its rivals.
“At Superbet our greatest asset over the incumbents is our speed and flexibility,” Hart said.
“I only ever want to be part of a fast learning organisation, and for us to take market share we need to adapt to the evolving demands of the modern punter and deliver new experiences that satisfy better than the current industry offering.
“Having an honest, pragmatic, forward-thinker like Rupert on-board is another step towards making that happen.”
Watson will be based in the operator’s new Leeds office where he will report directly into Hart.
Superbet has been on a hiring spree of late, appointing a number of former senior William Hill staffers with the likes of Finbarr Joy, Stuart Weston and Peter Morgan having joined in recent months.
The firm also took a large Poland-based team from rival Fortuna, including its country CEO, as it looks to launch both online and retail products in the market before the end of the year.
