Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission CEO to step down after 17 years
Steve Brennan has confirmed he'll leave his post before the end of 2024 and revealed the search for his successor is already underway

Steve Brennan will step down from his post as Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission CEO towards the end of this year.
Having arrived in the role in February 2008, Brennan has occupied the top job for just shy of 17 years.
In that time, he has also held roles at Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF), including becoming a member of the board in June 2013 and vice-chair exactly one year later.
Two years on, Brennan was promoted yet again, taking on the position of chair of the board from June 2016 until May 2018.
Prior to joining the commission, he spent 21 years between July 1986 and January 2008 as senior policy officer for the income tax division of the Isle of Man government.
His tenure as Gambling Supervision Commission CEO marked Brennan’s first foray into the gambling industry.
Taking to LinkedIn to confirm his departure, Brennan also used his update as an opportunity to advertise the vacancy for his own job.
He wrote: “After 38 years in the Isle of Man Government, the last 17 of which have been at the helm of the Gambling Supervision Commission, I’ll be stepping down as its chief executive towards the end of this year.
“The search for my replacement has begun and I am pleased to share the link to the recruitment information pack.
“While the information pack details pretty much everything you need to know, it doesn’t really convey the incredible people you’ll meet, the fabulous professional relationships you’ll build, the expert knowledge-sharing you’ll enjoy and the great camaraderie and support the sector offers.
“I’ve enjoyed my time enormously and hopefully contributed, is some way, to the advancement of regulating, and regulation of, online gambling.”
As detailed in the job advert, the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission is offering between £125,226 and £164,730 per year for Brennan’s successor.
“We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced chief executive to provide strategic leadership and direction for the Gambling Supervision Commission,” the vacancy reads.
“As chief executive, you will ensure overall operational effectiveness is compliant with regulatory objectives, statutory functions and duties and to do so in a manner which facilitates a competitive, attractive environment in which quality opportunities are promoted for the economic benefit and good reputation of the Island.”
