Interwetten nets Yakubu as latest brand ambassador
Former Premier League cult hero set to become face of sports betting operator in Nigerian market

Interwetten has added former Everton and Nigeria forward Yakubu Ayegbeni as a brand ambassador in the Nigerian market.
Yakubu scored 21 times for the Nigerian national team while featuring at two World Cups and two Africa Cup of Nations over 57 appearances.
Vienna-founded Interwetten entered the Nigerian market in March and will hope that Yakubu’s popularity and presence will drive engagement in the west African nation.
Yakubu will feature across digital and print marketing campaigns, conduct official Interwetten appearances and launch a social media-led ‘Yakubu Tip’ betting feature.
The partnership marks Interwetten’s largest brand ambassador agreement in its history.
Speaking on his link-up with Interwetten, Yakubu said: “When choosing my partners, it is really important to me that the chemistry is right and that was immediately obvious after the first talks.
“Interwetten has been a reliable and serious partner in sports for decades, in countries all over Europe. It will be a very exciting partnership and homecoming for me too,” he added.
Dominik Beier, Interwetten CEO, said: “The passion for football is enormous in Nigeria. It was clear to us that, for the first time in the history of the company, we would be looking to partner with a former Nigerian footballer as our official ambassador.
“In Yakubu we feel we have found that perfect partner and look forward to experiencing the excellence of Nigerian football fans for ourselves,” he concluded.
