Hong Kong Jockey Club hires industry newcomer for director role
Dennis Hau moves across from the tech industry to become executive director of customer strategy, insights and innovation

Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has appointed Dennis Hau as its new executive director of customer strategy, insights and innovation.
Hau will also become a member of the board of management and will report directly to HKJC CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
He will lead the customer strategy, insights and innovation team and will be instrumental in helping the operator shift its focus to become a more customer-centric organisation.
Hau’s specific duties will be to develop a new customer strategy and to define the customer experience across all facets of the business.
Before joining HKJC, Hau spent almost a decade with the music and tech firm Tencent. During his time there, Hau was at the forefront of several mergers and acquisitions and established the Tencent International Product Centre and International Business Group.
Hau has also spent time with IT consulting firm Oracle, where he held positions including senior sales consultant, senior product manager and principal product manager in his five years with the company.
Hau’s appointment represents the first significant hire for HKJC since the operator appointed a new chairman in September. Michael Lee replaced Phillip Chen as chairman after spending 16 years with the club, with the past two as chair.
Alongside Lee, the HKJC also named three new board stewards to replace Chen, Richard Tang Yat-sun and Rosanna Wong Yick-ming, who retired from the board last year.
The replacements were Jackson Woo Ka Biu, Ann Kung Yeung Yun Chi and Anita Fung Yuen Mei.
